The cord
A strand of steel in every cord
A nylon net sometimes ends up chewed through: it's the worry of everyone who has ever put one up. Here, the cord is woven with a strand of stainless steel, as the manufacturer shows. No net is unbreakable, though: check the edges every now and then.

What sets it apart
Steel-woven
Every cord hides a strand of stainless steel: that's what separates it from a plain nylon net.
Black, so it fades away
Like a fly screen, black blends into the view instead of catching the light. Your balcony still looks like a balcony.
A knotted mesh
A knot at every crossing and a 3 cm mesh: it keeps its shape once the net is pulled taut.
Three lengths
3 × 4, 3 × 6 or 3 × 8 m, supplied with their fixing rope and hooks.
The moment
The balcony, without the cage
Your cat gets back the fresh air, the sunshine and the show down in the street. And you open the French window with greater peace of mind.
Fitting
A rope, some hooks, and it's taut
The rope threads through the edge mesh, then attaches to the hooks fixed to the wall or ceiling of the balcony. Pull the net taut with no creases, and check there's no gap left at the bottom or along the sides.

Which length should I choose?
The net is 3 m high. Choose the length to match your railing, open sides included: if in doubt, go up a size — the excess folds back.
How to measure
- Measure your railing from wall to wall.
- Add the sides if they're open: the net has to close off the whole balcony.
- Round up to the next length: 4, 6 or 8 m.
For a corner balcony or a loggia, add up all the open sides.
The three sizes
| Size | Length covered | For |
|---|---|---|
| 3 × 4 m | 4 m | A large window or a small balcony. |
| 3 × 6 m | 6 m | A typical balcony, sides included. |
| 3 × 8 m | 8 m | A long, continuous balcony or a terrace. |
3 m high for all three sizes.

Fitting it properly
-
Measure, then choose the length
Your railing from wall to wall, open sides included. The excess folds back.
-
Thread the rope through the edge mesh
Along the full length of the net: the rope is what pulls it taut and spreads the load across the hooks.
-
Hook, tighten, check
Hooks on the wall or ceiling of the balcony, net pulled taut with no creases. Then look for the slightest gap, at the bottom and along the sides.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us about the balcony net
Can my cat chew through it?
The cord is woven with a strand of stainless steel: that's what sets it apart from a nylon net, which some cats end up chewing through. No net is unbreakable, though: check the edges and the bottom of the net every now and then.
Is it noticeable?
Black blends into the view: as with a fly screen, you look at the scenery rather than the net.
Which length should I get?
The length of your railing, open sides included, rounded up: 4, 6 or 8 m. The net is 3 m high.
Do I need to drill?
For the hooks supplied, yes: they fix to the wall or ceiling of the balcony. If you rent, ask your landlord's permission before drilling.
Does it stand up to sun and rain?
The manufacturer doesn't give a figure for how long it lasts in the sun, so we won't make one up. A balcony net weathers outdoors: check it every spring.
Can I leave my cat alone on the balcony?
For the first few days, stay with them: make sure they can't find a way through, at the bottom or along the sides. A well-fitted net makes the balcony safer; it doesn't replace your watchful eye.
