  • Belly covered — back, sides and belly under the fabric: their tongue can no longer reach the wound directly
  • The litter tray stays within reach — the back is open: they use it while wearing the suit, without you taking it off
  • Four sizes, from XXS to M — chosen by back length, from 25 to 45 cm
  • Nothing over their head — a garment, not a lampshade; whether they still need their cone is your vet's call

What it covers

Belly covered, rear left open.

The suit covers the back, sides and belly in one piece. The front legs go through two ribbed armholes; the back legs and tail come out through two large openings edged with black binding.

The surgical site stays under the fabric, and the way to the litter tray stays clear.

The days after

While they recover, their belly stays covered.

After neutering, a cat's instinct is to lick the wound. The suit puts a layer of fabric between their tongue and the wound, without putting anything around their head.

It doesn't replace your vet's care or instructions: your vet decides how long to keep it on, and whether the cone is still needed.

And keep checking the wound every day, as your vet told you to.

What the suit does, and what it doesn't

A garment that covers the surgical site. It doesn't treat anything: it keeps their tongue away from the wound, and that alone goes a long way.

Belly and sides covered

The suit wraps around the back, sides and belly. A belly wound, like the one left by spaying a female cat, stays under the fabric while they walk, eat or sleep.

The litter tray, without undressing them

The back stays open: your cat can use the litter tray while wearing it, as the supplier states. No need to take it off every time they go.

Four sizes, measured along the back

XXS, XS, S and M, for a back length of 25 to 45 cm, from the top of the back to the base of the tail. That measurement decides, not the scales: the supplier gives no weight per size.

An adjustable neck

The high neck tightens with a drawcord and toggle at the back of the neck. The neck and armholes have ribbed edges, and the rear openings are finished with binding.

Four sizes

From XXS to M.

Four sizes for back lengths of 25 to 45 cm, from kitten to a well-built adult cat. The supplier gives no cat weight per size: the measurement settles it.

Beyond a 45 cm back length, none will fit. Measure your cat before choosing — the chart below shows you how.

Choosing the right size

The supplier gives no cat weight per size. Measure your cat before ordering: back length first, that's what decides.

How to measure your cat

  1. Back length: with your cat standing, measure from the top of the back, at the base of the neck, to where the tail begins.
  2. Neck girth: measure at the base of the neck, where the neckline will sit.
  3. Write the measurements down in centimetres and compare them with the chart: back length decides, the girths are there to double-check.

Measure them while they're calm, ideally before the operation: it's easier than afterwards.

Size chart

Size Back length Neck girth · waist girth
XXS 25 – 30 cm 24 cm · 27 cm
XS 30 – 35 cm 28 cm · 34 cm
S 35 – 40 cm 32 cm · 39 cm
M 40 – 45 cm 36 cm · 48 cm

Supplier's measurements; the back length is also printed on the packaging. The supplier doesn't specify whether waist girth is taken at the belly or the chest. Between two sizes? Send us your cat's measurements and we'll confirm the size before dispatch. We reply within 24 hours.

The suit doesn't treat anything: it covers the surgical site. How long it's worn, and the choice between suit and cone, are up to your vet.

Before the operation, and the days after

Four simple habits, to fit in with your vet's instructions.

  1. Measure them before the big day

Back length, neck girth, waist girth: three measurements, with your cat standing and calm. Order ahead so the suit is ready and waiting when you get back from the clinic.

  2. Ask your vet

Tell your vet about the suit: they're the one to say whether it's right for your cat's wound, how long to keep it on, and whether the cone is still needed.

  3. Check it covers properly

The drawcord adjusts the neckline: it should stay in place without being tight. Then check that the fabric covers the wound when they walk and when they lie down.

  4. Keep an eye on the wound

The suit doesn't mean you can stop checking. Keep looking at the wound as your vet told you to, and call them if you have the slightest doubt.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about the recovery suit

Does it replace the cone?

That's for your vet to decide, not us. The suit covers the back, sides and belly; it doesn't protect the head, legs or tail. Depending on where the wound is and your cat's temperament, your vet may recommend one, the other, or both.

How do I choose between XXS, XS, S and M?

By back length, from the top of the back to the base of the tail: 25 to 30 cm for XXS, 30 to 35 cm for XS, 35 to 40 cm for S, 40 to 45 cm for M. Then check neck and waist girth against the chart. The supplier gives no cat weight per size: don't go by the scales. Not sure? Send us their measurements and we'll confirm the size before dispatch.

My cat is big. Will they fit in it?

Up to a 45 cm back length, yes: that's the limit of size M, the largest. Beyond that, no size will fit them, and we'd rather you knew before ordering.

How do you put it on, and how do you wash it?

The supplier describes neither. Their photos show no fastening apart from the drawcord at the neck, and they give no washing instructions. For a first try, pick a calm moment, ideally before the operation.

And if it doesn't fit?

You have 30 days to send it back to us for a refund. And if you're torn between two sizes, send us their measurements before ordering: it's the surest way to avoid a return.
