01 · Control
A brake under your thumb, peace of mind in your hand
A sudden noise, an urge to go too far? One press of the thumb and the strap locks instantly: your cat stays within reach, with no jolt or sudden tension.
You release, and the exploring starts again. The movement becomes a reflex from the very first outing.

Going further
When the garden is no longer enough.
There comes a moment, as a cat learns to walk in a harness, when they stop being content with the doorstep. They pull a little, they look towards the end of the garden, the edge of the wood, the path that carries on.
This lead takes over at that moment: it lengthens the distance without giving up control.
It clips only onto the harness ring. Never onto a collar.
What matters at the end of the lead
Anti-panic brake
Under your thumb, it stops the lead paying out instantly — with no delay or second action.
3 m or 5 m
3 m for a garden or a busy path, 5 m for open ground.
Swivel clip
Corrosion-treated metal, mounted on a swivel: it turns freely without twisting.
Harness only
The pull is spread across the chest. On a collar, it would be concentrated on the neck.
02 · Freedom
Up to five metres of curiosity
The strap pays out when they venture forward and rewinds when they come back: always just taut, never under their paws.
The 3 m for terraces and first explorations, the 5 m for the gardens of the truly curious.

03 · Comfort
Designed for the hand that walks with them
Soft rubber handle, ergonomic shape, natural thumb position: you forget it's there, even when the walk goes on and on.
The retraction mechanism is made by Kimpet — smooth, quiet, reliable outing after outing.

3 m or 5 m?
The length isn't chosen according to the cat but according to the terrain. Too short, it holds them back; too long on a busy path, it becomes unmanageable.
How to choose
- First, look at where you go out most often: an enclosed garden, a shared path, or open ground.
- Work out the distance from which you want to be able to bring your cat back in a second.
- If in doubt on busy ground, take the shorter one: it's easier to manage.
The anti-panic brake works exactly the same on both lengths.
The two lengths
| Length | Which terrain | What it allows |
|---|---|---|
| 3 m | Enclosed garden, path shared with other passers-by. | Keeping the cat close, regaining control in one movement. |
| 5 m | Open ground, woodland edges, spaces with no one passing. | Letting them wander further and explore more. |
| Both | Six colours available for each length. | The choice of colour has no effect on the mechanism. |
This lead is to be used only on a harness ring, never on a collar.

Getting started with the retractable lead
-
Clip it onto the harness
Attach the clip to the back ring of the harness. Never to a collar: the chest should take the strain, not the neck.
-
Start short
Keep the strap short while they get their bearings, then let it out as they gain confidence.
-
Thumb on the brake
One press, everything stops; you release, and the walk starts again. The movement becomes a reflex from the very first outing.
-
Rewind gently
Lock the strap, take a step towards them: the tape winds back on its own. You head home without ever pulling.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us about the lead
On a harness or on a collar?
Always on a harness. A retractable lead keeps a slight, constant tension: on a collar, it would pull on the neck. On a harness, the effort is spread across the chest — exactly what the Pelux harness is made for.
3 m or 5 m: how to choose?
3 m for balconies, terraces and first outings: control comes most naturally there. 5 m for gardens and for cats already at ease outdoors. If in doubt, take 3 m.
Is the brake really reliable?
One press of the thumb locks the strap instantly, and the Kimpet-made mechanism is built to last. Just keep your hand on the brake in busy places: it's your safety reflex.
Is it suitable for all cats?
Yes: it's rated for companions up to 25 kg, from the young cat (with a well-fitted harness) to the largest builds.
How does the duo discount apply?
Add the vest harness kit and the lead to the same basket: the 50% discount on the lead applies automatically, with no code.
What if it doesn't suit us?
Like everything Pelux: a 30-day money-back guarantee. You try it for real, then you decide.
