What height changes for them

It's our largest and most expensive model. Here is precisely what that investment buys.

Height is a need, not a luxury

Indoors, a cat loses access to branches, low walls and rooftops. A lack of high vantage points is one of the most common causes of conflict between cats and of chronic stress. 160 cm is above human eye level — the only spot in a flat where they look down on everything.

Hiding or watching, as they choose

The ball nest at the top is closed on three sides: it's the den, where they sleep deeply. The middle tunnel is a passage where they take up position. The open basket is the lookout post. Three different needs, three distinct places.

23 kg that stay put

That's the critical point for a tree of this height. The oval solid-wood base and the 23 kg of the whole structure absorb jumps without noticeable sway. A lightweight 160 cm model would be dangerous; this one is simply heavy to set up.

Four colours, and no carpet grey

Apricot, ecru, blue and pink: rattan shades chosen to live in a living room. You're deciding to put 1.60 m of furniture in your main room — it may as well look as if it belongs there.

01 · The nest at the top

Their den, right at the top

The ball nest is woven into a dome, open at the front and closed everywhere else. A cat in deep sleep looks for exactly that: a protected back and only one direction to watch.

Perched at the top, they get the two things they can't have at once anywhere else — being hidden and overlooking the room.

The weight

160 cm, and 23 kg to keep it steady.

No one thinks about stability when buying, and everyone thinks about it at the first jump. The criterion isn't height alone but the ratio between footprint and height, plus the total mass.

A 1.60 m tree that weighs 8 kg sways. The same tree at 23 kg on an oval solid-wood base doesn't move — and a cat who has felt a piece of furniture move beneath them won't climb back up.

Check two things before ordering: the floor space, 78 × 58 cm, and whether a 23 kg parcel will get up your stairs or into your lift. With two people, setting it up is simple; alone, it's frankly a pain.

02 · Stability

An oval base, not a narrow square

78 × 58 cm of solid wood on the floor. On a 1.60 m tree, it's this ratio between footprint and height that decides everything: too narrow, and every jump makes the column sway.

Even so, set it up against a wall. No unanchored cat tree is completely still, and ours is no exception — we'd rather tell you than hide it from you.

Footprint and height

It's the largest model in the range. Measure your spot before choosing: at this height, the clearance below the ceiling becomes a real criterion.

What to measure at home

  1. The floor space available, in length and width.
  2. Ceiling height: you need 30 to 40 cm above the highest platform.
  3. Access to the room — the parcel weighs 23 kg.

Under a standard 2.50 m ceiling, this tree leaves 90 cm of clearance: comfortable. Under a sloping attic ceiling, redo the maths.

The three figures to compare

Measurement Value What it means at home
Footprint 78 × 58 cm Oval solid-wood base: it's what holds the height.
Total height 160 cm The true high point, for a climber or for several cats.
Weight 23 kg Plan on two people for unpacking. Once assembled, it stays put.

Four spaces spread over four levels: closed ball nest, tunnel, basket and platforms. Four colours. Self-assembly — fixings and instructions included.

Setting it up properly

With a piece of furniture this size, assembly and placement matter as much as the product itself.

  1. Prepare the space

Measure 78 × 58 cm of floor space, against a load-bearing wall if possible, near a window. Clear the way: the parcel is heavy and bulky.

  2. Assemble it as a pair

Assemble from the bottom up, base first, tightening gradually rather than fully from the very first screw. Go over every fixing again once the tree is standing.

  3. Make the top worth reaching

A cloth that carries their scent in the ball nest, a treat on each level. They need a reason to climb all the way up from the very first day.

  4. Let them do it their way

Some cats climb within ten minutes, others circle around it for a week. Never carry them onto a platform: a cat lifted up by force associates height with constraint.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about the rattan tree

What justifies the price?

Size and mass, essentially: 1.60 m, 23 kg, four distinct resting spaces and a solid-wood base. It's a piece of furniture, not an accessory. If your aim is simply to give your cat a high point and a scratcher, the 100 cm wood and rattan tree does that job very well for just over half the price. We'd rather tell you than let you take the biggest one by default.

Is the rattan natural?

No, and that's a deliberate choice: it's woven synthetic rattan. It's a technical decision rather than a cost-cutting one — natural rattan dries out, breaks at stress points and copes badly with damp and scratching. The synthetic version keeps the woven look while standing up to a cat's daily use.

Isn't 160 cm dangerous?

A healthy cat jumps from this height and lands without difficulty — it's far lower than the trees and rooftops they would frequent outdoors. On the other hand, for an older, arthritic or overweight cat, this height can be a problem: the intermediate levels are there for climbing up in stages, but keep an eye on their first ascents.

Can it be fixed to the wall?

It doesn't come with a wall-fixing kit and isn't designed to be screwed in place. Its stability relies on its mass and its base. If you really want to secure it, a furniture anti-tip strap, like the ones used for bookcases, does the job very well.

Is it suitable for several cats?

It's actually one of its best uses. Four spots at four different heights let cats who don't get on well live together without crossing paths — feline hierarchy is largely settled by levels. For three cats or more, do still plan a second high point elsewhere.

How does returning a 23 kg piece of furniture work?

The 30 days apply as they do to everything else, but let's be transparent: sending back 23 kg means taking it apart and keeping its original packaging. Keep the box until you're sure your cat has adopted it. Write to us before sending anything back, and we'll arrange the return with you.
