Why the bubble changes the journey

This bag doesn't try to hide your cat. It does exactly the opposite — and that's precisely what reassures them.

Seeing is calming

Many cats don't panic at being carried: they panic at not being able to see anything. The domed bubble gives them back the view and, above all, your presence. It's often the difference between a journey full of meowing and one where they end up settling in.

Air flows all round

Twelve ventilation eyelets on the front, a wide mesh panel on the side. A closed shell with no ventilation quickly becomes stuffy — here, the air circulates even when the bubble is in place.

A shell that doesn't give way

The polycarbonate keeps the bag's shape whatever happens: on a packed train, under a seat, in a vet's waiting room. Your cat is never squashed by what's around them.

A size to check first

32 × 29 × 42 cm, for a cat up to about 6 kg. Beyond that, take a look at the wide-opening cat backpack instead: it goes up to 36.5 cm wide and takes cats up to 8 kg.

01 · The porthole window

They look outside, you stay in touch

The bubble is domed, not flat: it projects out from the shell and opens up a wide field of view. Your cat follows what's moving around them instead of putting up with it in the dark.

It comes off completely when you want to air the bag out fully while stopped, or when they'd rather poke their head out.

The porthole window

They look out whenever they want.

The shell is black and opaque: your cat can retreat into the shade whenever they need to. The domed porthole window is there for them to move forward when they feel like looking out. It's this freedom to move back and forth between two zones that brings stress levels down.

And the porthole window is removable: you can take it off completely.

A word of honesty: a closed shell with a dome holds in heat. This bag isn't made for full sun, or for a fearful cat.

Measure your cat lying down, from nose to the base of the tail, before ordering: they need to be able to turn round in the bag. A cat who touches both sides will never accept the journey, however good the bag.

02 · Carrying

Designed to be worn, not just carried

Padded straps and a cushioned back: the load is spread out instead of digging into your shoulders. The shell stands upright on its own, so the bag doesn't tip backwards when your cat moves around inside.

It can also be worn on your front, close to you, for the moments when they need to feel you near.

Will your cat fit?

This model is designed for a cat of about 6 kg at most. Weight alone isn't enough to decide: measure them, it takes two minutes.

How to measure your cat

  1. Pop them on the scales, or weigh yourself with them, then without.
  2. Measure their length from nose to the base of the tail — not to the tip.
  3. Measure their sitting height, from the floor to the top of the head.

The real test: standing without lowering their head, turning round on the spot, lying down without touching both sides.

The three measurements to compare

Measurement How to measure On this bag
Weight On the scales, or you with them, then without. About 6 kg, maximum.
Length From nose to the base of the tail. Shell 32 cm deep.
Sitting height From the floor to the top of the head. 42 cm high: they need to fit sitting up under the bubble.

This bag suits a cat who is already used to travelling, curious and fairly confident. For a fearful cat, look instead at a model with a blackout flap.

Getting them to accept the bag

A carrier isn't something you spring on your cat the day before you leave. Four steps, spread over one to two weeks.

  1. Let them go in on their own

Put the bag down open in the room, bubble removed, with a treat at the back. Don't put them in: wait until they go in of their own accord. Some cats take three days.

  2. Close it, without moving

Once they're sleeping in it, put the bubble back for a few minutes, with the bag on the floor. They need to understand that closed doesn't mean leaving.

  3. A first lap of the room

Lift the bag and walk around the flat. Stay in their line of sight through the bubble: that's the whole point of this model, so make use of it.

  4. Then the real journey

Start with five minutes outside, not with the vet appointment. A first journey linked with stress costs you for months.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask us about the bubble backpack

Will airlines accept this bag in the cabin?

We can't guarantee it, and be wary of shops that claim so. At 32 × 29 × 42 cm, this bag exceeds the height allowed by most European airlines, which often cap it at around 20 to 25 cm for a soft carrier under the seat. Always check the exact dimensions with your airline before booking — they vary from one airline to another and change regularly.

My cat weighs 7 kg — will they fit?

That's already above what this model comfortably takes. The criterion isn't just weight but length: your cat needs to be able to turn round inside. For a cat of 7 to 8 kg, go for the roomier wide-opening cat backpack.

Could the bubble act like a magnifying glass in the sun?

It's a real precaution to take, as with any clear shell. Never leave the bag in full sun with your cat inside, and avoid putting it behind the window of a parked car. On the move, in the shade or indoors, it's not an issue.

My cat hates being shut in. Is the bubble enough?

It helps a lot, but let's be honest: it doesn't replace getting them used to it. A cat who has never seen a carrier will panic in this one on the day, just as in any other. The four-step method above matters as much as the bag. If they still refuse, you have 30 days to send it back to us.

Is it easy to clean?

The bubble comes off and can be washed in warm soapy water — no abrasive products, as acrylic scratches. The shell and fabric wipe clean with a damp cloth. Put a small absorbent mat in the bottom for long journeys.

And for a proper long outing outdoors?

This model is cut out for journeys: the vet, the train, getting around. For hiking or a whole day outside, the expandable cat backpack is better suited — it expands when you stop so your cat can stretch out.
