Visibility
Easy to spot as the light fades.
Reflective strips on the back bounce back the light from headlights and streetlamps. At dusk as well as early in the morning, your cat stays visible — to you, and to an approaching car.

First times
The harness for first outings.
This model comes in XS and S only. It's not a limitation, it's a choice: it's cut for kittens, young cats and small adults, the ones for whom most harnesses are simply too big.
A harness that's too loose protects against nothing. A cat backs up, twists their shoulders, and they're out.
Why this harness for their first outings
A small cat discovering the outdoors needs two things: to be seen, and for the harness not to give way at the first instinct to bolt.
Visible as the light fades
The reflective strips run along the back, exactly where the eye falls from a pavement or a car. A headlight, a streetlamp, a torch: your cat stands out instead of blending into the evening grey.
Support that holds when they back up
The vest cut spreads the pressure across the whole chest instead of pulling on a thin strap. When your cat suddenly backs up — the reflex that slips a cat out of a badly fitted harness — the whole thing stays in place and doesn't slip off the shoulders.
Cut for small cats
XS and S, and nothing else: this harness is made for kittens, young cats and small adults. The straps adjust, which sees a kitten through their first months. Past a certain size, you'll need to move up to the comfort vest harness — that's the trade-off of a model cut small.
The lead is already in the box
The set arrives with its lead. You open the parcel, adjust the straps at home, and the first outing can happen without ordering anything else.
The set
Harness and lead included.
The lead comes with the harness: nothing to add for the first outing. The lightweight taffeta resists tearing, and the straps adjust so there's no slack at the shoulders — the area a cat uses to try to back out of their harness.
Nine colours to choose from.

XS or S?
This harness only comes in XS and S. It's designed for kittens, young cats and small cats. For a standard or large adult cat, turn to the comfort vest harness, available up to 3XL.
How to measure your cat
- Chest girth: measure the widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs.
- Neck girth: measure at the base of the neck, where the strap will sit.
- Compare your two measurements: if they exceed S, this model isn't the right one.
A harness that's too big is a harness the cat gets out of. If in doubt, measure twice.
The two measurements that matter
| Measurement | Where to measure | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| Chest girth | The widest part of the chest, just behind the front legs. | This is the one that decides the size. |
| Neck girth | At the base of the neck, where the strap will sit. | It confirms the size found at the chest. |
| Between two sizes | Note down both measurements in centimetres. | Take the larger one: the straps take up the slack. |
Two sizes available: XS and S. The equivalents in centimetres will be added as soon as the supplier provides them — in the meantime, measure your cat and write to us if you're unsure; we'll reply within 24 h.

Getting ready for their first outing
-
Measure before choosing
A soft tape measure around the chest, just behind the front legs, then around the neck. Note down both figures: you'll need them for the fitting. XS for a kitten or a very small cat, S as soon as they fill out.
-
Check the fit indoors
Have them wear the harness for a few minutes at home and watch what they try: it's indoors, in safety, that you find out whether they can back their shoulders out of it. Keep readjusting the fit here, so the question never comes up on the pavement.
-
Adjust with the two-finger test
With the straps fastened, you should be able to slide two fingers flat between the fabric and their body. Any more slack than that, and they'll find a way to back out of the harness.
-
First outing: short and calm
Clip on the lead provided and choose a quiet spot, early in the morning or at dusk: the strips on the back take over as soon as the light fades. Keep them within reach — no harness is infallible.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask us about this harness
Can my adult cat wear it?
Only if they're small. This model only comes in XS and S: it's cut for kittens, young cats and small adults. If your cat has a standard or broad build, it will be too tight — choose the comfort vest harness instead, available up to 3XL.
XS or S: how do I choose?
Measure the chest girth, just behind the front legs, then the neck girth. XS for a kitten or a very small cat, S as soon as they fill out. If in doubt, take S and tighten the straps: too tight, the harness restricts their movement; too loose, it leaves room for them to wriggle free. The reliable guide is still the two-finger test.
Can my cat still escape from it?
No harness makes an escape impossible, and we won't tell you otherwise. The vest cut spreads the pressure across the chest rather than onto a thin strap, which leaves much less slack at the shoulders when your cat backs up. The rest comes down to the fit: well-adjusted straps, the lead held short in busy places, and never an outing without supervision.
Do the reflective strips really help?
They don't light up by themselves: they reflect the light that hits them — headlights, a streetlamp, a torch. That's exactly what's needed at dusk, early in the morning or on a poorly lit path to spot a small cat a few metres away. In complete darkness, with no light source at all, they do nothing.
Is the lead included?
Yes, the set includes the harness and its lead: you don't need to order anything else for the first outing. The Pelux exploration lead is an alternative for walks where you want to give them more room to roam — only worth getting if that's what you're looking for.
